A Tribute to "Matt"Matthew Shane, best friend, son, and constant companion of Byron L. Harris of Charlottesville, passed away on Sept. 6th with his "Daddy Byron" by his side. He was the gentlest of souls. Matt never met a stranger and loved all people and animals unconditionally. Matt was a well known Downtown Mall personality.. He and his "Dad" walked several evenings a week on the mall and he made countless friends there. Many babies and puppies learned to trust him due to his gentleness and had their first doggie socialization with Matt due to his love and tolerance for all. All who crossed paths with Matt loved him. Those who were physically or mentally handicapped found unconditional love in Matt. He also made many friends through the years of walking in the AIDS Walk in Charlottesville.
